Letter of the Week Alphabet Part 2

Our old learning room with our letter-of the week alphabet border. I would draw the letter with a pencil then the boys would outline my drawing with glue and we would stick on it whatever we could find around the house. Also every week, we would shape the letter out of play-dough, bread dough, cookie dough, bundles of sticks outside, write it in sand. We would draw it with chalk on the driveway and walk around it and we also made Motessori sandpaper letters to complete the whole "sensorial" experience. We used the " New Alphabet of Animals" book with woodcuts by Chistopher Wormell, "If There Were Dreams to Sell," poetry arranged by alphabet and compiled by Barabara Lalicki with illustrations by Margot Tomes. And, of course, "Dr. Suess's ABC's." In learning to spell their names, the boys made collage freight trucks with each square of the truck bearing a letter of their name. They are on the wall above.

I really loved reading about the things your family has collected that crossed the Atlantic with you! I have seen those treasures in your window and have wondered about them...those are some of the things that make a house a home. Thanks for the reminder!
